Joan Jett (born Joan Marie Larkin; September 22, 1958) is a rock guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer and occasional actress, from Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. Known as the Godmother of Punk, Jett started her musical career as a founding member of the Runaways, beginning as a writer, rhythm guitarist and sharing lead vocals, before taking over as frontwoman for their latter two LPs Waitin' for the Night and And Now… The Runaways, after Cherrie Currie left the band. When The Runaways disbanded in 1979, Jett moved on to the project she became best known for: Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Their record "I Love Rock 'n' Roll", was No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks in a row and is Billboard’s No. 56 song of all time. Jet has released tow solo studio albums and ten studio albums with the Blackhearts. In 2015 she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
