He may be The Joker, but this ain't no joke – the Steve Miller Band are coming to DTE Energy Music Theatre on Sunday 17th June 2018! Also rocking the DTE stage will be "Baby, I Love Your Way" singer Peter Frampton; the two world-class acts are carrying on their co-headlining stint from 2017 and it seems they have something pretty special in store for fans:
"Music is ethereal – it moves back and forth between the past and the future," Miller said in a statement about the jaunt. "I'm very excited to announce that 2018 is our 50th anniversary of recording and touring together as the Steve Miller Band, and we plan to travel between the psychedelic sixties through the future with a vengeance!"
Formed in 1966, the Steve Miller Band began in San Francisco, California as a psychedelic rock group. The band's debut album, Children of the Future, was released in 1968, but it was 1973's classic rock-influenced album, The Joker, that brought the band mainstream success. The album launched a single of the same name, which became a number-one hit and was certified platinum, selling over one million copies. The band continued to have a steady stream of hits throughout the 1970s, including “Fly Like an Eagle”, “Rock'n Me” and “Abracadabra”. To date, Steve Miller Band has released eighteen studio albums, six live albums, seven (official) compilation albums, and at least twenty nine singles. They have sold over sixty million albums worldwide.
