The Dave Matthews Band revealed the dates for their yearly summer amphitheater tour. The band will begin its 32-date 2024 U.S. tour on May 22 at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa, Florida. It will conclude with three performances on August 30, 31, and September 1 at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington. The band usually spends Labor Day weekend at the picturesque location in Washington state, having sold out all seven of its previous 70 shows there.
The DMB’s new sustainability initiatives, which are part of their relationship with Live Nation on the “On the Road To Zero Waste” program, will make its premiere during this summer’s tour. According to a release announcing the dates, Matthews, who was awarded a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador in 2019, together with the band, will collaborate with LN-operated venues on the routing to reduce the environmental impact of concertgoers. The goal is to divert at least 90% of fan-generated rubbish from landfills.
The event will be offering zero waste green teams, zero waste stations, food contributions, waste sorting, composting, and a reduction in single-use plastics at their events. DMB has committed to planting an additional one million trees as part of their ongoing relationship with The Nature Conservancy's Plant a Billion Trees program. This will increase the band's total number of trees planted since their initial participation in the reforestation effort in 2020 to five million.
