One of the world's best-selling music artists is heading back to the stage. With over a hundred million records sold, the icon behind "Janet" and "The Velvet Rope" is extending her Golden Jubilee shows in celebration of 50 years in the entertainment industry. Janet Jackson launched her 2023 Together Again tour, taking her biggest hits and fan-favorite songs across her entire discography to the live stage. As a follow-up to her 2019 tour in celebration of Rythm Nation 1814's 30th anniversary, she's stoked to share special milestones with all of her fans. This year's extended Together Again run will be joined by Nelly as her supporting act across 35 scheduled shows.
Last year, Janet expressed "I feel great, we’re so excited," on Today. Kicking off a huge celebration with one of this generation's biggest artists, it's an awesome trek to look forward to. As fans craved for more, she took North America by surprise, announcing extended shows with Nelly as her special guest. The trek celebrates three of her most successful albums - "The Velvet Rope", "Janet", and "Rythm Nation", marking their 25th, 30th, and 35th years of rockin' the scene. 50 years of sharing her acclaimed talent in singing, acting, and dancing, she sure is one of a kind!
Again, we're celebrating decades of her majesty in the industry. Well, that's great and all, but a lingering question has been going around her very loyal fanbase - is she releasing new music anytime soon? Well, she did tease that she's back in the studio, hinting that music may come out anytime soon. Fans have been searching for hints of a new record since 2015's "Unbreakable" and 2018's "Made for Now" with Daddy Yankee. We don't know when new music will come for sure, but she's out here blessing the world with her decades of hits back on stage.
Back in October 2022, the queen took fans by surprise, paying a special visit to a London party celebrating 25 years of "Velvet Rope". At her visit she shared fond memories of making the album. "This album is so, so close to me," she shared with attendees, via Billboard. "It was, I would say, out of all the albums that I’ve created, and especially with Jimmy and Terry, it was the most difficult … the most difficult album for me to create."
We've been going on and on about her milestones and celebrations over her most iconic albums, and we know everyone's been dying for new music as well. With a plethora of hit singles including "Together Again", "Any Time, Any Place", "That's the Way Love Goes", "Escapade", "Black Cat", "You Want This", "All for You", and so much more, a Janet Jackson song will definitely be another hit. "A lot of the fans have been saying, ‘Where’s the new music? When are we gonna get new music?’ So there will be new music" she shared.
"She still dances with the type of effortless, sweat-free ease that’s made her such a standout in all eras of her career," Rolling Stone's Brittany Spanos shared in her review of the tour's Madison Square Garden show. "Some audience members saw their muscle memory activate as they themselves imitated the video choreography that was inescapable on MTV so many decades ago."
It's a blast from the past!
