‘Weird Al’ Yankovic is back on the concert stage, bigger and even weirder than ever!
After two world tours in smaller, more intimate venues, ‘Weird Al’ is upping the antics and hitting the road for a massive three-month U.S. trek. It is a super-sized concert experience, with an amazing eight-piece ensemble featuring his original band, packed to the gills with all the best: from “Like A Surgeon” and “Another One Rides the Bus” to “Smells Like Nirvana” and “I Love Rocky Road”, from “Amish Paradise” and “Party in the CIA” to “Eat It” and “White & Nerdy”! Fans, and those who are just discovering the greatest musical comedian of all time, can look forward to one hell of a time!
Apart from this great news, Yankoholics have a lot to celebrate – ‘Weird Al’ just dropped a new single and video, “Polkamania!” to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his number one album, “Mandatory Fun”.
From humble beginnings, having one of his comedy songs aired on “The Dr. Demento Radio Show” in 1976 at the age of only 16, ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic shot to stardom, becoming the biggest-selling comedy recording artist in history, selling more than 12 million albums worldwide, of which four achieved gold status and six platinum status. He recorded over 150 parodies and original songs, performed in over 1,000 concerts, won 5 Grammy Awards, and received a further 11 nominations. ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic is one of only three artists to chart in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 in the previous four consecutive decades, with his 2014 album, “Mandatory Fun”, being the only comedy album in history to debut in the top position on the Billboard Top 200.
‘Weird Al’ Yankovic will be supported on tour by the seven-foot sad clown with the golden voice that has been performing sold-out shows around the globe – Puddles Pity Party. Michael Geier’s Pagliacci-inspired alter-ego catapulted into global fame after his 2010 collaboration with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox with a cover of Lorde’s hit single, “Royals”.
